At night
The docs' fighter on the apron at night, every light on.

Starting…
The fighter stands on its wheels on an asphalt apron at night, in a light mist, every light on. Nothing about the lights is drawn to a size or a timer.
- Walk round it and the position lights hand over as the rule has them: the red from dead ahead to 110° left, the white astern. Each dims above and below, and spills only a little into its neighbour's arc.
- The strobes flash once a second, the red beacon half a second after the white. Each flash lasts a fraction of a millisecond, and is drawn at its effective intensity, 400 cd, as the eye sees it.
- The landing and taxi beams light the ground in their catalogue patterns, and show in the mist as the air scatters their light. Clear the air and they fade, as a beam does on a clear night.
- Raise the gear and the lamps on the nose leg go out as it leaves its down lock.
- Lower the visibility and the far lights dim and redden, while the beams in the air brighten.
- Change the exposure and the glare round each light grows or shrinks, as the eye's scatter carries more or less of it over what the screen shows.
The page's bloom is the docs' own, added to everything. The lights' glare is the eye's, and would be drawn without it.
